This week, fashion is going deep and looking forward. Shopify released its fashion industry report, outlining the trends, movements and technologies that are and will be affecting the fashion industry. Days later, Business of Fashion, in partnership with McKinsey and Company, released its report outlining the state of fashion in 2017 and the themes, issues and opportunities impacting fashion.
There must be something in the air: as digital technology becomes more and more native to our everyday lives, and we are all grasping for meaning and truth in times of uncertainty, it may just be the right time to look at fashion from a different angle. To go deep, hard, and forward, to think smarter and come together and not only find opportunities for individual growth but for industry growth and change.
While the two reports overlap, each brings forth a data-centric, future-focused approach to fashion that many smaller, independent businesses are often lacking. But now you can have at it (maybe curled up on your couch over the holidays).
